NEW Quarterly 12-hour Crazyhouse Marathons

By popular request of several people including players from different time zones, I have created this new series of 12-hour Crazyhouse Marathons. This is an individual arena and runs from 16:00 UTC to 04:00 UTC. Everyone is welcome to play some or all of it!

The winner will be crowned the QRM Spring Marathon Champion!

My Crazyhouse Journey Continues - a bumpy road

When I started playing crazyhouse, I found it impossible, as I said in my last blog. I still haven't unlocked the secret. I have gone from around 1200 last year to 1600 this year, although saying that, it can vary from 1550 to 1650 depending on how things are going, hardly ground-shaking figures.

Some days I can hardly find one win in ten games. Inconsistency in chess is one of the things that frustrates me daily. A lot seems to depend on how tired I am, from work, sleep disruption, or whatever.

And sometimes I play my best-ever game when I am tired and sick, so who knows?

Various friends try to persuade me of the merits of playing less and studying more, and I am sure they are right. You have to be in the mood though to take in new information.

Two weeks ago I had my first-ever win over a GM, which is always a landmark moment in any chess player's life! But I think DJ has got a taste for crazyhouse now and it might be a while before I can catch him again, if ever!
