your thoughts about a game I played recently.

So recently I play this game.
http://en.lichess.org/zniw4TUP/black#57
Opening:
I have been studying this opening for white since last week.
Therefore I manage to play this line against my opponent quite good.
Don't know where I messed up and lost the center pawns.
Middle Game:
I had no idea where to start the attack. That is why lost it totally.
How would play this game and what is your thoughts about it ?
Thanks in advance guys.

No idea I cant help u much as Im also trying to learn something against d4, but why did you play knight f8?
its an awkward square for the knight, Its probably good in some line if you understand the idea behind, so g6, e6, not d7 since it comes from that square I guess.
Looks like you lost control of the game because you played the standard opening moves but you didn't fully understand the plan for black in this type of Carlsbad pawn structure.

The key aim is to control the e4 square, especially when white has developed his knight to f3. This is why I consider Bxf3, especially before White has made the weakening move h3, a positional mistake. White gains control of the e4 square and Black cannot take advantage of whites weak king because of black's lack of control of the e4 square. Just note, by the way, that that's what the knight maneuver Nd7-f8-e6 or g6 is intended to do--control the e4 square more (by the way, you should develop it to e6 or g6; don't leave it on f8). Your light squared bishop would not be bad on the h7-b1 diagonal. By controlling the e4 square you force white to undertake the standard minority attack, and meanwhile control of the center allows you to possibly make threats against white's king and force weakening moves like h6 or g6. The way it was played, White got everything he wanted, and without having to weaken his king much.
don't see why you are having thoughts of "starting the attack" when white clearly has the more active pieces. 13..Bd6 is the wrong plan, there's no real pressure against h2 and what you should really be looking for is to exchange some pieces. 14..dxe4 only helps white of course.

better is 13..Nh5, he's "forced" to trade on e7 and THEN maybe you can entertain Qh4/attacking ideas. he also is discouraged from playing e4 because of Nf4.
And yes, Lights made an important point. It is crucial to first gain equality by developing your pieces fully, including your f8 knight, perhaps trade some pieces, then fight for control of the e4 square. Only then can you even think of making attacking threats.

Yeah, I did look at computer analysis, but computer is rated above 2800, which is too advance for me to understand. Thanks for the comments, anyways

@ DragonDawgs and @ LM Lightsss
Thanks for the feedbacks. It definitely helped me all.

if you want to play more with an attack you should play after d4 Nf6 then most likely c4 you play c5 d5 if they take you will have a bigger center and then after d5 you play b5 going for a Benko Gambit a very good opening if you want to attack and make use of the more active pieces you will get.

Altought you need to know some theory this is a very nice opening.
