Not sure which USCF section to join for upcoming tourney

Doing my first USCF tourney in a couple of weeks. Not sure if I should enter U1000 or U1500. One here my correspondence is in the 1800s and on chess.com it's about 1550-1600. U1000 would be easier but if I lose a round there my initial rating is probably screwed. Not sure what my USCF rating will turn out to be.
You should learn to play well before joining USCF tournaments.
play whatever you feel like playing don't worry about it too much
Play in whichever section you think you your rating should be. If you think you are rated under 1000, then play in the under 1000 section and don't worry about your rating. As you improve, your rating will match your strength.
U1200s if they have it. Play up one section from the lowest if you feel like you want to. Or play in the open section and get crushed but learn (hopefully).
ratings mean nothing the only thing that matters is if you are a titled player or not and the qucikest way to get a title is to play against harder rated players so go in the highest rated group that you can go into if you want to improve as a player.
In Canada everyone (unrated) starts at U1200 section. If your rating is within 100 points of cutoff (between 1100 and 1200) you can register to play in a higher section (U1600) for an additional fee. If you are 1500-1600, you can get to U1900. If you are 1800-1900 you can get to U2200. If you are 2100+, you finally get to play in the Open Section. If it's 2100-2200, you have to pay additional fee. If it's 2200+ no additional fee is required. The Open Section is the only place where there are cash awards and is FIDE rated!
I played in one tournament. It was my first tournament ever and I was placed in U1200 section. After the tournament my rating is now between 1100 and 1200 and I need to decide if I want to be in U1200 or U1600 in the next tournament I play in. To get to U1600, it costs a little extra money.
First time I played I played in the lowest section lol. Free prizes, I didnt know my strenght, maybe I sucked at chess and didnt know it.
