lichess.org/training/25691The puzzle fails you if you checkmate in one less move, although I think this should at least get you a "good move but you can do better" seeing as it still wins.
What path are you referring too? I got the main path to this one fairly quickly seeing as it's mate in 3 with incredibly forcing moves.
Lots of paths that checkmate in four fail the puzzle. The first checkmate path I saw was 1. Qd4 Kb1 (Kb2 2. Qa4+ Kb1 3. Ke1 Kc1 4. Qd1#) 2. Qd1+ Ka2 3. Qa4+ Kb1 4. Ke1 Kc1 5. Qd1# and I simply played it because in a game it is completely impracticable to sit at the board trying to figure out if you can checkmate one move quicker.
Sorry I said the path wrong, it's actually 1. Qd4 Ka2 (...Kb1 2. Qa4 Kc1 3. Qd1#) 2. Qa4+ Kb1 3. Ke1 Kc1 4. Qd1#
Not that it matters, the puzzle fails as soon as one plays 1. Qd4
