When do you resign and when do you accept draws?

I sometimes accept draw in situations i have a little bit better position but time pressure (With my playing speed it is possibility to get flagged and lose on time).

Also,if i have totally winning position,i always try to win even in time pressure.

I have asked for draw in lost positions as well. For example i have King and pawn, opponent has King and 2 pawns. It is mostly a draw, but there are situations when stronger side can win.All I can do against it is request a draw and hoping that opponent will accept or push to a draw with correct defense.

I resign in totally lost positions against higher rated players(though i never resign if i play with lower rated ones since there is a possibility that they will fail to win)
If I'm about to resign and my opponent offers a draw, I will surely accept it. Other than that, it depends on my position and my mood.
@Shell_____ll I'd rather take a draw. It means the resources of the position have been exhausted which means a success for both sides. I do understand your point of view though
@soni777 When the resources of the position have been exhausted, there may be a draw by repetition of movements, insufficient material or stalemate. No problem. But I don't like a draw just because the game is difficult. It's very frequent here.
pretty simple: if you don't have any conterplay to do on the board and you are several points down then you can resign because you don't have anything to try anymore, you know you totally lost. so long you see there could be some tactics somewhere then you must not resign because you still have a tiny chance (usually involving a mistake from your opponent). to be a piece down is not enough to resign, not even a queen down.

you can claim draws in equal position when you play a really annoying position where you feel lost and just want to quit and analyse the game...if you still have enough time tho, then i advice you to try to find a good move either way. you have to claim draws in obvious drawn position (depend of your knowlegde and skills).
early draws like we can see in OTB tournaments don't make any sense on internet. the goal of such draws is to allow some rest in the middle of tiring tournaments or because the position lead nowhere and none of the players have any hope to claim some sort of advantage over the other.
I accept draws if I think I'm worse (because why not) or that it's literally a dead draw. But I usually prefer to play on if I don't know if it's a draw, because I think it's a shame if either of us could play to win.

I don't play on until mate, but I don't see the harm in trying for a swindle. But you're not really going to improve by swindling, so it's arguably a wasted effort.
I think it was GM N.Short who said "If someone offers a draw you should look carefully to find why they think they are worse."
Never resign your opponent might not be able to win
You must resign when you want to avoid suffering.
You must ask for a draw when you want to avoid boredom.

Do it only in these specific cases! :]
