Lichess Opening Explorer. Must have feature.

Incredible job, that's the number one opening explorer on the net now!
Thank you very much for this feature and authorizing it in correspondence games, rated or not, Thibault!

This removes confusion between ToS and Q&A by Chess_Agent..:-)

I personally believe that this is especially true for atomic and three-check...new players probably should use books and play correspondence first before remembering the books gradually and play real-time games..
Superb new feature! It's what I most wanted on lichess!

Some suggestions for tweaks...

1) Strongly agree with the suggestion above for an option to explore just one's own games. It would be useful to see what lines we perform best and worst in.

2) I'd find it easier to grasp the info displayed if I could see a % of games for each line as well as, or instead of, just the number of games. Likewise a single % score for White would be easier to take in at a glance than the three part White win / Draw / Black win percentages.

No doubt other people might have different prefs, so maybe make the displayed columns selectable?

Regardless of possible tweaks, this is the single most useful improvement to lichess since I've been here!

Thanks to all involved in making it happen!
Atomic chess opening explorer:
1. Nf3 Nf6 -> 62% black win
It' s unwise to use statistics without thinking ;-)
@kettwiesel: Intresting effect. We filter extremely short games, so probably only games where white is drunk survive.
I enjoy playing correspondence, but I never used opening databases because

a) I thought it's considered cheating on lichess
b) I don't think it's fun

Thibault, your post regarding correspondence chess is a huge letdown. Even if everyone can already use an opening book on another site, I see no reason to encourage people to do so. In my eyes correspondence should be played on a basis of honor, as such both players mutually agree not to use outside help and play a fair game. The current mindset practically forces both players to use the inbuilt feature.

I suggest to remove the opening database from correspondence games for these reasons.
#38 That depends on what you are playing. For an inexperienced player it is almost self-defeating to play without an opening book as black in atomic chess but not in regular chess.

People who use books should reveal this fact so that both sides should use books. That's what I do for unrated atomic correspondence games now.
I think as well the opening database should be removed from correspondence. Even though there is no way to prevent people from massively cheating with it and those that do would use other ways of cheating anyway but those that play legit should not be encourager to cheat. But if everyone has the same tools to work with it remains fair.
