Simuls stands for "simultaneous exhibitions". The nature of exhibition games are that they are for showing off / having fun instead of competitive play, and are by default unrated (see: football exhibition games, etc). There are not much point to making them rated.

Well this is not FIDE, it's internet, the ratings themselves are for fun so why not make it more fun.. if the host is confident enough that is ;)

It would manipulate the ratings; playing rated simuls would be a way of sandbagging.
@Assios, would any master ever do that? How much can you really sandbag and for what reason?
@aurimus Masters occasionally do it in OTB tourneys (to get in a lower rating group to win money). What I'm saying here is that playing in a simul would be unintentional sandbagging, since you play at a much lower strength when facing multiple opponents at the same time, and the ratings would be skewed.
