Chess World Championship: Nepomniachtchi versus Ding – Games 1 and 2

Yeah Nepo!
It's strange...
...but in all honesty, I forgot that the WCC had started.
Well, I also have to admit that this WCC feels just different - especially knowing that Nepo lost to Magnus and now is in the lead (to be fair though, it's just one game).
I don't have a preferred winner this time - but I want to see amazing play from both of them.
Before, you know, they get crushed by Magnus in the next WCC... ̄\_(ツ)_/ ̄

Yeah Nepo has the advantage. He's been there before. He's prepared for the stress.
Nepo isn't the best psychologically either. They have contrasting play styles, so will be interesting to see if they both play without self doubt
Looks like Ian will be the winner unless there's a "hail marry" in the later rounds.

Thank you for the correction, the article has been amended to reflect the right World Championship

Your welcome.
One has to wonder if it is even possible to be psychologically prepared after qualifying via arranged results in fake tournaments, where all the games of all other players were draws.

How can you receive that sort of privilege but then enter the real competition as the underdog? The makes you an even bigger underdog psychologically, than if everything else was the same but you had actually maintained your rating in enough real tournament games to qualify.
