Feature Request: Asynchronous Swiss Tournaments

It would be great to be able to schedule tournaments so that the rounds are synchronous, but the games themselves are not. For example: Round 1 would begin Sunday at 7:00 PM and all 1st round games could be played at any time but must be COMPLETED before 7:00 PM the following Sunday. And so on.

I know that this is a long shot (and there are probably many technical obstacles), but it would be very helpful for the chess clubs I run. I have students that often have scheduling conflicts and need to miss rounds.

As always, thank you good people of lichess for maintaining the best chess website out there. If it wasn't for you guys, I might actually get some work done. ;)

And if the game is not completed? Since, you will have games not completed online. This is really a key question, that I don't think has a good answer.
This feature of adding corresponding swiss maybe helpful so it might solve the issue

Good point. But whatever the logic that lichess currently uses in a Swiss tournament can also be used in an asynchronous format, no?

@PLSDONTCLOSEMYACC - the feature I'm requesting is for timed games (i.e., rapid), not correspondance.

I think that would be great. But, some of the players would have to play in a certain time, and somebody else would be required to be online. If it was correspondence, and you had to finish it by a certain time or it would not count, that would probably work better.

With that addition, just like at the end of a tournament where you need to finish your game, but it would not count to your score, just your rating, you would still have to finish the game.

I hope this was helpful.
