Bullet / Ultrabullet - Input Method

I like playing Bullet a lot, but it is simply impossible for me to move my pieces fast enough in <1min games.. I tried on my old iPad, but there is a bad delay. And on my laptop, the Trackpad is just a hassle. How do you play, which is the fastest input method? Any advice? Is a touchscreen and a fast pad unavoidable?

Thank you very much.
Of course a mouse is the best device to use for bullet. Next comes the touchscreen. Worst is a touchpad.

I don't have a good mouse so I use a touchscreen for bullet these days.
Thank you. Haven't use a mouse since years. I will try.
@Jayadeva
With a mouse, you'll notice that there are two ways to use it here:
1) click a piece once, hover the piece and only release the button once you moved it over to the target square.
2) make two clicks after each other: one at the piece, and one at the center of the target square.

I'm not a bullet player myself, but from my experiments with the format I think method 2) is much faster, once you get some practice.
To play faster you should disable piece animation, board highlights, piece destinations, and takebacks. Disabling all these buggy settings will significantly speed up lichess performance.
I use touchpad, i select the pieces with my left thumb, and hover it with my right middle finger, then i use 2 hands to play
i think it needs a lot of practice, i tried to change to a mouse but i couldnt get the same results as the touchpad, because i used the touchpad first.
however, bullet chess isnt only speed, you must study to get better
All touchpad for me, I play on an iPad. Never get the same results with a mouse cause I’m way too slow otherwise.
Hangard board highlights and piece destinations do help in utilising your time one should not disable it
@Panagrellus - Nakamuras pieces hover when he plays, I saw today, so I think he uses the pick up method and releases them. When you are certain about an upcoming move, the two-way method is maybe more save.

@hangrad I disabled the animation. The highlights I find important for me, helps me to grasp his moves quicker. I am often disturbed by take-back requests. Can I disable them? Where?

Is bullet in the End worsening your Chess-(lets call it)-Style, or is it helpful?

Thank you all.
@Panagrellus - As someone who plays bullet frequently, method 1 is definitely faster. It's one mousebutton press (hold, release) whereas method 2 you'd have to click twice.

I invested in a decent mouse (currently using logitech g300s, ~€35) and honestly it makes me win a lot of time scrambles. Definitely worth considering.

@Jayadeva - Bullet should be approached with caution, as it sharpens your intuitional play in manners you might not have thought of. You might get accostumed to playing a bad opening, for example, simply because it is easy to premove, or go for cheap tricks that are objectively speaking not good. If you're serious about improving your chess, avoid bullet until you have reached a certain level (e.g., once you have a solid opening repertoire, you will not get tempted into playing your bullet openings in longer time controls).

Bullet is not a good way to improve your chess, but it is a lot of fun (obviously).
